Q. [Living] I am a Research Visit or POSTECH Summer Program student and haven’t heard anything about NHIS. Why is that?
Students enrolled for less than three months cannot obtain an Alien Registration Card, and since NHIS enrollment is based on Alien Registration, you will not be enrolled in NHIS. You must purchase your own overseas insurance with full coverage.

You can apply for an exemption by faxing the necessary documents to 054-230-3321. Required documents are as follows:

Yes, you may apply for an exemption if you have health insurance that is guaranteed by foreign law or foreign insurance.
Q. [Living] Is the National Health Insurance (NHIS) mandatory? Do I need to apply for it or submit any documents?
Yes, the NHIS is mandatory. However, you do not need to apply or submit any documents. You will be automatically enrolled once your Alien Registration is complete.
Q. [Living] I lost my Alien Registration Card (ARC). What should I do?
You must visit the Immigration Office to reissue your ARC. An online reservation is required, which you can make at HiKorea. Additionally, report the loss of your ARC at HiKorea Lost Report.
Q. [Living] How much are the living expenses at POSTECH per month?

Yes, the POSTECH Counseling Center provides personal and group counseling, as well as psychological testing in English. You can make a reservation through their website at POSTECH Counseling Center.
Q. [Living] Is there a buddy or mentoring program for exchange students?
Yes, the POSTECH Buddy (PBUD) is a student organization that supports exchange students. You will have the opportunity to participate in matching meetups, social gatherings, and campus & city tours during your stay.
Q. [Living] Can I live in an on-campus dormitory?
Yes, all international students are guaranteed on-campus housing at their own expense.
Q. [Visa & Immigration] The embassy or consulate in my home country is asking for additional documents. Why is this different from what I expected?
Each embassy or consulate has its own regulations for visa issuance. If they require additional documents, you must provide them to proceed with your application.
